Will The Buddyrider Fit My Bike?

Below is a step by step way to help determine if the Buddyrider will fit your bike.

First of all there are 3 important points to note:

1. A traditional ladies bike with the lower frame in front of the seat allows you to mount the bike by stepping through and then sitting. This can no longer be accomplished with the Buddyrider mounted there. You must mount and dismount the bike gentleman style straight over the seat from the side.

2. If your bike has a suspension seat post, this must be replaced with a rigid seat post so that the Buddyrider is mounted high enough both for fit, and your comfort. They are available at most bike stores.

3. If you have a carbon fiber seat post you must replace it with an alumimum or steel seat post.

Fitting Checklist

Adjust and set your seat height in a safe and comfortable position, low enough so both feet can touch the ground when stopped.

Measure the exposed seat post below your seat. Is it between 1” and 1 ¼” diameter? (2.54cm and 3.17cm) Is there at least 1 ¾” (4.5cm) of seat post showing to attach the Buddyrider?

Next, measure at right angles from the seat post. Do you have at least 19” (48.5 cm) of clearance?

If you answered "yes" to all of the above questions it is very likely that Buddyrider will fit your bike.

Some exceptions may apply.

Will My Dog Fit My Buddyrider?

The Buddyrider was originally designed around a 10.5kg (23lb) Parsons Russell Terrier and made with as much flexibility in mind as possible. Obviously some dogs fit better than others and the following information is by no means 100% accurate in every case, but will hopefully make your decision making a little easier when considering size.

We are often asked what size of dog will fit. In other words how do I measure my dog? There is no easy way to take a tape measure and measure the length and height of your dog and then compare it to other breeds, because weight, leg length and stature also play a major role. We find it best to compare by breed type in combination with weight. For example most dogs of the terrier family because they usually don’t have many very prominent physical features such as very long legs, or a heavy set body etc, will possibly fit all the way up to the Buddyrider’s maximum engineered weight of 13.6kg (30lbs).

The following is a guide to give an average comfortable maximum weight range.
